Acceptance
Jason Vena

1. What gear do you use? I use a Shure Pcm400 in-ear monitor system so I can hear my voice while I sing into an Audix Om4 that is sitting on a straight black mic stand.

2. Musical influences? I would say The Beatles, U2, Stevie Wonder, Journey, and Eric Clapton.

3. First band you were in? When I was 14 I started a band called Day Zero with some friends from school. We were probably the worst band of all time. I remember playing a basement show for a friend of ours and Christian's band, Good for Nothing, played as well. There was a bit of a rivalry between the two of us so it's pretty funny to look back on it. We also played a few shows with All Wound Up which was Kaylan's band at the time.

4. One reason why you play music? I play music because I believe that it is one of the few forms of expression that can truly change people.

5. What would you do if you weren't in acceptance? I would probably be producing music or working in artist development.

6. I love playing Anaheim. The people there are very supportive and the shows are always a good time.

7. Worst moment on stage? We played a show in Dallas once and I got hit in the face with a guitar. I thought I had broken something because I couldn't feel my face at all. Fortunately we were able to finish the show and I was just left with a small cut.

8. One thing you love about the road? Performing.

9. One thing you hate about the road? Being away from loved ones

10. Something people don't know about you? I am an obsessive compulsive. Everything has to be in order or I start to freak out. I don't think the other guys like that too much.

1. What gear do you use? For guitars, I play a Fender Tele with a Seymore Duncan little 59 in it. I rock an Orange AD 30 Head with a Orange 4x12 cab.

2. Musical influences? When I first started playing in a band I was really into bands from Lagwagon and Pulley to Pedro the Lion and Jimmy Eat World.

3. First band you were in? The first band I played in was a punk band called All Wound Up. I started playing with them around sophomore year of high school.

4. One reason why you play music? One reason for me is that I think everyone needs a creative outlet, and for me being in a band is my way expressing myself.

5. What would you do if you weren't in acceptance? I've always thought being a fireman would be really cool. Who knows?

6. Favorite city to play? I always like to play at home. Outside of that would probably be Anaheim. We always feel more than welcome there.

7. Worst moment on stage? I don?t have a specific time. I hate it when something goes wrong with my gear right before we play!

8. One thing you love about the road? I love to play every night! It makes all the stuff you hate disappear for the whole time you're on stage and you have a blast! It helps you remember why you're 2371 miles away from home.

9. One thing you hate about the road? Being away from home and everyone you care about.

10. Something people don't know about you? I'm really a backwoods man at heart! I'd rather live in a log house away from everything. Not to far, but just enough to feel like I've got my own spread.

1. What gear do you use? I play an American Fender P-Bass through an Ampeg SVT Classic head and 8x10 Classic cab.

2. Musical influences? Wilco, Counting Crows, John Legend... Just to name a few.

3. First band you were in? Edison... It was this indie rock thing that I was in with my best friends.

4. One reason why you play music? It is an opportunity for me to be creative and express myself. I think Jeff Tweedy said it best when he basically said that being creative is the one thing we can do; and to keep building.

5. What would you do if you weren't in acceptance? I would be back in school pursuing a degree so I could teach elementary school or high school.

6. Favorite city to play? Seattle, Washington of course.

7. Worst moment on stage? We played this big arcade/venue in the Seatle area once and I was rocking out so hard that I kicked my own feet from underneath me and face planted. Needless to say, the bass guitar was shot as was my confidence. This was when I had first joined the band... Bad impression to make, really.

8. One thing you love about the road? I think what I enjoy most about the road is the "openess" of it all. More often then not you have a lot of free time to think and let your mind excercise itself. Its refreshing.

9. One thing you hate about the road? My nature is very solitary. So you can imagine for someone like me to be on the road and constantly surrounded by so many people, it can certainly be a struggle. It is my biggest obstacle.

10. Something people don't know about you? Well I went to collage early... Does that count?
