Alesha, Sabrina, and Su-Elise, form the UK's Premiere R&B/Garage Girl band Mis-Teeq. Originating on the UK garage scene, the girls stormed the charts in 2001 with their debut hit Why, which was embraced by clubs and radio stations alike. Other Top Ten singles, All I Want, One Night Stand, B With You and the double A side Roll On/This Is How We Do It, followed their immediate success and helped propel their critically-acclaimed, double platinum album Lickin' On Both Sides, to No. 3 on the UK charts.
After winning 'Best Artist' at the UK Garage Awards, the girls performed a spectacular live performance at the Brits 2002, as well as having been nominated for 'Best Newcomer.' Following these highlights, the girls opened for the Queens Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, performed sets at Glastonbury and Creamfields 2002, and scooped up the 'Best Band' award at the Maxim Woman of the Year Awards.
They also received praise from the Capitol FM London Awards for 'Best Dance Act,' in addition to the 'Best Garage Act' award at the 2002 MOBO Awards.
The release of Scandalous, a sexy and sassy slice of hook-laden R&B, written by the girls themselves with the one and only Stargate, only brought more success for the trio.
They landed a deal with Coca-Cola, and watched their single Scandalous smash into the UK charts at No. 2, helping to underline their position as the UK's No. 1 R&B act. Mis-Teeq had the opportunity to work with such heavy-hitters of the R&B world including Salaam REmi, Joe, Mushtaq, Ed CAse, Rishi Rich, JD and Dave Kelly.
The girls finished 2003 on a high note with a show-stopping performance at the MOBO Awards, which featured none other than Redman. With the release of Style, they managed to yet again announce their presence by crashing onto the charts and hitting the airwaves in full-force.
January 2004 has seen the girls collect two BRIT Award nominations for 'Best Single' for Scandalous and 'Best British Urban Artist.'
With work already begun on their third album due out later this year and an eye firmly on the American market, 2004 looks certain to be yet another year of unprecendented success for this unstoppable trio. Mis-Teeq's extraordinary talent and crossover appeal will undoubtedly drive them to be a chart-topping success on both sides of the Atlantic.
