The singer, comedian and Oscar-winning actor was just added to the three-day festival, which also features Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown and Toni Braxton.
Presented by Coca-Cola, the 2006 Essence Music Festival takes place July 1-3 at Reliant Park in Houston.
Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Yolanda Adams and Earth, Wind & Fire are scheduled to perform on Day 1 of the festival (Saturday, July 1).
Day 2's line-up on Sunday, July 2nd, is also star-studded and includes Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, Jaheim, New Edition and Bobby Brown, Steve Harvey and Doug E. Fresh and the Pioneers of Hip-Hop including Slick Rick, Sugar Hill Gang, MC Lyte, Biz Markie, Whodini and Dana Dane.
Some of the artists performing on Day 3 include Keyshia Cole, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Toni Braxton, and Cedric the Entertainer.
