The SXSW Music Festival, which has broken talent like Franz Ferdinand, James Blunt and Kaiser Chiefs, will now be nationally televised on Directv.
DIRECTV Presents SXSW Live will be broadcast March 15-17 on Channel 101, and will feature unprecedented access with upfront performances and behind-the-scenes footage from the three day musical extravaganza.
Blaze TV has teamed up with the satellite service provider to bring us the broadcast, as well as custom-build two state-of-the-art venues exclusively for the SXSW special, which will be filmed in multi-camera HD with 5.1 surround sound.
Over 1,400 bands played at 60 venues in downtown Austin, Texas last year, and festival organizers boast even more action at the 2007 event, with appearances by Pete Townshend and Rachel Fuller, The Stooges (with Iggy Pop), David Byrne, Ozomatli, Taylor Hicks, Amy Winehouse, Buzzcocks, Interpol, Razorlight, Hot Hot Heat, The Bravery and Booker T.
