Stephen Cochran was the kid in the candy store recently when he played the Jamoree in the Hills for the first time.
Cool, was performing for 47,000 fans cooler was sharing the stage with folks like Kellie Pickler, The Wreckers, Miranda Lambert and Toby Keith, plus The Marshall Tucker band and Charlie Daniels Band. Coolest thing was meeting Charlie. You see, Cochran, whose father Steve Cochran had his own career as a country artist back in the '70s, was backstage with Daniels and band, when the fiddle-playing legend approached the younger artist.
"I'm standing there looking at the great Charlie Daniels and he says, 'Son, you don't know this, but your dad used to open some shows for us back in the day, and I met you when you were 5 years old,'" Cochran says. "It was like, 'Wow, this is just about as good as it gets.'"
