DETROIT, MI Tuesday Mar.9.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- If you think the subject of Incubus's single "Megalomaniac" is about President George W. Bush, you've got clouds in your coffee, says frontman Brandon Boyd. The band's political video for the song may be to blame for the misinterpretation, but Boyd says the real megalomaniac is actually a composite of people he's known throughout his life. Citing the villain of the 1986 Steve Martin movie "Three Amigos" known as "El Guapo," he says, "Everyone has their own El Guapo. It might be your mom, your dad or a tyrant of some kind. And basically I'm using my personal El Guapo."

Boyd also offers a tip on extracting the maximum satisfaction from listening to "Megalomaniac," saying, "I always appreciate when lyrics are distinct enough that you can tell generally what's going on and appreciate it, and vague enough that you can apply your own meaning to it. It'd be great if people could apply their own El Guapos to this song."
