NEW YORK, NY Friday Nov.26.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Rumors have been going around that Avril Lavigne got engaged to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley. But if you're wondering if it's true, don't ask Avril. She prefers to keep her private life private.

When MTV asked about her relationship, Lavigne replied, "I don't talk about my personal life." The "My Happy Ending" singer said that she prefers that people talk about her music –- not her relationships.

Explained Lavigne, "I choose not to talk about anything that has to do with my personal life or my love life because I don't want people talking about it. Some people, like Britney, choose to, and a lot of people focus on that. Whenever I see her in the press, it's about who she's marrying or who she's dating. I would just prefer to have people talk about my music. That's why I'm here."
