Stefani tells VH1 that she and Eve decided they would record another duet one night after a party at Stefani's house. "Eve came over and we danced the night away. It was one of those nights where we ended up in the laundry-room of my house and we were like, 'We got to do it again,'" says Stefani.
And how did they decide on the song "Rich Girl?" Stefani explains, "Dre actually came to me with the idea of doing "Rich Girl" from Fiddler on the Roof." Stefani admits that she panicked about writing new verses for the song, so she went to see the musical on Broadway for inspiration.
Says Stefani, "It was incredible, because it had an incredible message - if you don't have love, you don't have anything. Even if you're poor and you have love, you're rich. So the weight was really on my shoulders, because the song has so much history, y'know?"
