The event honors songwriters and publishers of the top ASCAP songs on the 2004 R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap charts.
Alicia Keys and Jermaine Dupri were named the Songwriters of the Year, with four award-winning songs a piece. Keys was honored for "Diary," "If I Ain't Got You," "My Boo" and "You Don't Know My Name," and she also won Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song of the Year for "If I Ain't Got You."
Dupri was honored for "Burn," "Confessions Part II," "My Boo" and "U Should've Known Better."
Top Ringtone Song of the Year went to 50 Cent's "In Da Club," and songwriters and producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were honored with the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award, which goes to those who have a lasting impact on Rhythm and Soul music.
Other award winners included Ludacris, Usher, Kanye West and Twista.
