NEW YORK, NY Thursday Feb.16.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- The Rolling Stones, U2 and 50 Cent made the Top 10 of Forbes.com's list of the top money making music artists of 2005.

The list looks at the cash generated by musicians in the United States from touring and album sales and NOT the money that finally lands in the artist's bank account.

The Rolling Stones are No. 1 on the list. During 2005, the band generated around $168 million in concert and record sales. U2 was next with $150 million from their Vertigo Tour and album sales.

Celine Dion is the only female to make the money makers list, coming in at No. 7. Dion generated $81 from album sales and her Las Vegas show at Caesar's Palace.

50 Cent is the lone hip-hop artist to make the 2005 list. The rapper landed at No. 8, generating $79 million from album sales and touring.

Other artists included in the Top 10 of money-making musicians for 2005 include Kenny Chesney, Green Day, The Eagles, Paul McCartney, Dave Matthews Band and Elton John.
